have been identified, for example, AOX, CTR3,
COX, SOD1 and SOD2. However, most of these
have been identified only in homology searches
of the P. anserina raw sequence available at http://
podospora.igmors.u-psud.fr/index.html, and remain
to be investigated in more detail. The indepth
elucidation of all pathways affecting life span
is a prerequisite for the understanding of many
age-related diseases, which reduce quality of life
in particular in the elderly. However, today we are
far from understanding these complex molecular
networks in any biological system. Also in the
future, research on aging models like P. anserina
can be expected to provide important clues which
are relevant for aging processes in general.
Acknowledgements. We greatly acknowledge the P. anserina
Genome Sequencing Consortium funded from CNRS/
Ministry of Research, and Génoscope, France (project
coordinator Philippe Silar, http://podospora.igmors.upsud.fr/index.html).
The availability of the raw sequence
allowed us to screen for homologous genes involved in the
regulation of copper homeostasis.
