finishing, ship-yard orientation, pen<br />

to provide the student with the<br />

fundamentals of operations for the<br />

various systems of Heavy Duty<br />

construction equipment. Students will<br />

learn basic tool and equipment use<br />

and how to safely perform many basic<br />

repair and maintenance operations.<br />

This course is first in a series of Heavy<br />

Duty Equipment Maintenance classes<br />

and is designed for the student who<br />

wants to enter the field of Heavy Duty<br />

Equipment Maintenance and repair.<br />

Introduction to Heavy Equipment<br />

Maintenance Electrical Fundamentals<br />

This introductory course is designed<br />

to provide the student with the<br />

fundamentals of operations of the<br />

various principles of heavy equipment<br />

electronics. Topics covered include<br />

electrical theory, fundamentals of<br />

circuit construction, wire repair<br />

techniques, semiconductors, basic<br />

circuits including (IC), types of<br />

output signals, DVOM usage, battery,<br />

charging and starting systems. A<br />

demonstration on the ATECH circuit<br />

board will be used to illustrate<br />

electrical principles including strategybased<br />

diagnostics.<br />

This course is designed to provide<br />

instruction on the principles of<br />

heavy equipment heating and air<br />

conditioning systems and for students<br />

who are interested in entering the<br />

field of Heavy Duty Equipment<br />

Maintenance & Repair. Students will<br />

be given the opportunity to earn their<br />

certification license (EPA Rule 1411).<br />

This course is also designed to prepare<br />

the student/service technician to<br />

understand principles of heating and<br />

air-conditioning systems, components,<br />

functions and service of these systems.<br />

entering the field of Heavy Equipment<br />

Maintenance and is designed to provide<br />

an introduction of diesel engines. The<br />

course provides an introduction of diesel<br />

engines, service department skills and<br />

expectations, and specific instruction<br />

on heavy equipment maintenance.<br />

The design and construction of diesel<br />

engines, principles and theories of<br />

operation, and disassembly/reassembly<br />

of engine components will be covered.<br />

Instruction on technical reference<br />

materials, parts and service books,<br />

computer systems and programs<br />

used by the service technicians will be<br />

covered.<br />
