of training which satisfies the legal<br />
requirements for a Level III Reserve<br />

training which constitutes satisfaction<br />
of the Regular Basic Course<br />
training requirement and the legal<br />
requirements for a Level I Reserve<br />

Driver Awareness Instructor<br />

This course is designed to develop<br />
instructors for Driver Training<br />
Awareness courses for the training<br />
of police officers in defensive driving<br />
techniques. The student will develop<br />
a training program including the<br />
physical design for a training site.<br />
In addition the student will plan<br />
and present a lesson on an assigned<br />
topic, as well as utilize rating forms<br />
to evaluate performance on driving<br />
exercises.<br />

This course is designed for individuals<br />
who have completed a basic police<br />
recruit academy, but have not been<br />
active in the law enforcement field<br />
for at least three years. It provides a<br />
review of the skills and knowledge<br />
needed to return to active law<br />
enforcement duty. The topics covered<br />
include human relations, legal<br />
changes and a review of current legal<br />
issues, conducting a preliminary<br />
investigation, field tactics, the use<br />
of force and weaponry, and racial<br />
profiling.<br />
