on a variety of heavy equipment and<br />

material handling machinery. Upon<br />

completion of this course students will<br />

receive a safety certification certificate<br />

for Forklift Operator Safety Training<br />

in compliance with OSHA (Section<br />

1910.178L) and Cal/OSHA title 8<br />

(Section 3668).<br />

on the advanced principles of Heavy<br />

Equipment Hydraulics, Components,<br />

Operation and Maintenance. The<br />

HEM 049 course will focus on heavy<br />

equipment hydraulic components<br />

operation with an emphasis on<br />

electro-hydraulic control systems,<br />

flow control and systems cleaning<br />

and maintenance. Instruction on<br />

technical reference materials, parts<br />

and service books, computer systems<br />

and programs used by the service<br />

technicians will be covered.<br />

This course supports and reinforces<br />

on-the-job training in business and<br />

industrial establishments under the<br />

supervision of a college instructor and<br />

is facilitated by the use of learning<br />

objectives. The student will be<br />

working in a skilled or professional<br />

level assignment in their area of<br />

vocational interest and will meet<br />

performance objectives related to<br />

instruction that are above and beyond<br />

the conditions of regular employment.<br />

This course is intended for students<br />

whose job is related to the heavy<br />

equipment maintenance field and<br />

have completed or enrolled in the<br />

appropriate coursework. This course<br />

may be taken once and repeated for a<br />

maximum of 16 units.<br />
