This course supports and reinforces<br />

on-the-job training in business,<br />

industrial, non-profit, studio,<br />

community and professional music<br />

organizations under supervision of<br />

a college instructor and is facilitated<br />

by the use of learning objectives. The<br />

student will be working in a skilled or<br />

professional level assignment in their<br />

area of vocational interest and will<br />

meet performance objectives related to<br />

instruction that are above and beyond<br />

the conditions of regular employment.<br />

This course is intended for students<br />

whose job is related to the field of<br />

music and have completed or enrolled<br />

in the appropriate coursework.<br />

Instructor approval is required to<br />

The course is intended for students<br />

who have the ability to assume<br />

responsibility for independent work<br />

and to prepare written or oral reports<br />

and/or appropriate projects; who<br />

possess a 2.5 overall grade point<br />

average and/or a 3.0 grade point<br />

average in a major, or for whom the<br />

instructor feels an exception should<br />

be made. Directed Studies may be<br />

developed from any topic arising from<br />

or related to a course of study that will<br />

result in developing depth and breadth<br />

in that subject area. The project title<br />

will vary with each individual project.<br />

Students will be expected to meet on a<br />

regular basis with their faculty sponsor<br />

and submit a final report or project.<br />

This short-term course provides an<br />

overview of the Associate Degree<br />

Nursing Program. The focus is on<br />

successful learning strategies and<br />

the development of critical thinking<br />

skills. An overview of the Systems<br />

Developmental Stress Model is<br />

included as a framework for the<br />

nursing process and the Associate<br />

Degree Nursing Curriculum. Also<br />

included is an in depth study of the<br />

nursing process including physical<br />

assessment, nursing diagnosis,<br />

interventions and evaluations. The<br />

nursing skills required for physical<br />

assessment and basic patient care<br />

will be presented. This course is open<br />

to all career ladder LVN and 30 unit<br />

option students entering the second<br />

year of the Associate Degree Nursing<br />

Program.<br />

of the nursing process in caring for<br />

patients with disturbances in the<br />

digestive and renal systems, fluid<br />

and electrolyte status and acid/base<br />

pathophysiology of disease processes,<br />

as well as medical and nursing<br />

interventions, is discussed. The<br />

students will apply the theoretical<br />

concepts in the clinical setting. This<br />

course is designed for students in the<br />

Associate degree Nursing Program.<br />

clinical nursing concepts. The student<br />

Concepts related to therapeutic<br />

communication, legal and ethical issue<br />

and documentation are included. The<br />

nursing skills required for physical<br />

assessment and individualized patient<br />

care will be presented. The course<br />

includes laboratory practice and<br />

experience in the care of patients in the<br />

clinical setting. This course is designed<br />

This is an introductory pharmacology<br />

course that focuses on the study of<br />

drugs most frequently prescribed. The<br />

course emphasis on basic techniques<br />

that pertain to the safe administration<br />

of medication. Completion of this<br />

course allows the Associate Degree<br />

Nursing student to safely administer<br />

medication to patients under the<br />

supervision of the nursing instructor.<br />

focuses on women’s health issues with<br />

regards to fertility, family planning,<br />
