the harmonic study. Techniques and<br />
orchestration of instruments are studied<br />
and applied to melodic and motivic<br />
construction in a formal compositional<br />

regional music styles of Mexico,<br />
with a special emphasis on Mariachi<br />
music. Folk ensemble playing and<br />
folk singing are coordinated and<br />
indigenous instruments are employed<br />
such as the guitarron, vihuela, guitar<br />
and jarana jarocha as well as the<br />
violin, flute and trumpet. Students<br />
