The findings indicate that there is a wide range of design disciplines covered but there is<br />

a significant variation in the representation of ‘cases’. The ‘Architecture / built<br />

environment’ and ‘Product design’ cases represent nearly half of the total number (57<br />

combined out of 121) with only a few cases evident in areas such as ‘Contemporary<br />

crafts /textiles’ and ‘Graphic <strong>Design</strong>’. It is worth noting that these findings seem<br />

disproportionate to the number of students studying in design related students at<br />

undergraduate level when one would expect areas such as Fashion and Graphic <strong>Design</strong><br />

(largest by volume) to be much better represented.<br />

Case studies by theme, indicative of fields of inquiry in design research, are now<br />

presented below.<br />
