The generating set percentage electrical efficiency at full and partial loads may<br />

also be determined from gas turbine performance charts, using<br />

To find the average efficiency values at full and partial load, the ISO standard<br />

rated output at 15°C is taken as the full load rated output. When part load<br />

efficiencies are calculated, it can be seen that the efficiency decreases with<br />

partial load in a similar way as with the engines. The overall efficiency (heat<br />

and electricity) again remains fairly constant, typically at around 80%.<br />

Therefore, the calculation <strong>of</strong> percentage load and heat to electricity ratio may,<br />

again, be dealt with as previously described for diesel and internal combustion<br />

engines, as described in section 5.2. As gas turbines cope well with varying<br />

loads, and have a fast response time [15], they are suitable for load following<br />
