SUMMARY<br />

The laryngeal cancer is a common tumor in men, but still rare among women.<br />

Our work is a r<strong>et</strong>rospective study from January 2003 to December 2007, it involves<br />

11 cases of larynx cancer in women followed in our <strong>de</strong>partment of ENT at the<br />

hospital OMAR DRISSI of Fez.<br />

The mean age of our patients was 51 years, review of past medical historypointed<br />

out 3cases of important passive smoking with an average of 10 packs-years, no<br />

case of active smoking had been noted. The notion of exposure to smoke from<br />

burning wood is found in 5 patients, all our patients are of rural origin.<br />

The average duration b<strong>et</strong>ween the ons<strong>et</strong> of clinical signs and consultation was 9<br />

months. Dysphonia was the revealing clinical sign in 9 patients over 11, it’ is often<br />

associated with the evolution course of dyspnea. Dysphagia as telling sign is found<br />

in only two cases. All patients have benefited from endoscopy with biopsy, which<br />

confirmed the diagnosis of epi<strong>de</strong>rmoid carcinoma in most cases (10/11). Imagery<br />

allowed us to assess the extension, wich pointed out an advanced stages in most<br />

cases (Sta<strong>de</strong>4 (a): 6 patients ).<br />

The treatment consisted of a radio-surgical combination in 7 cases, surgery alone in<br />

one case, an exclusive radiotherapy in two cases, and an association<br />

radiochemothérapy in one case.<br />

The course was marked by a carcinological loco-regional control in 6 cases, one<br />

patient presented a tumor recurrence and two patients were lost of sight. We<br />
