Availability of Vaccines<br />

Table 3.9 describes the availability of vaccines according to the type of facility, the<br />

managing authority, and the region. This availability was assessed only in the facilities that<br />

store vaccines.<br />

Among the facilities that offer childhood immunization services and routinely store<br />

vaccines, health centers have the greatest availability of vaccines. Indeed, 93 percent of them<br />

have all the basic childhood vaccines (DPT/pentavalent, oral polio vaccine, measles vaccine,<br />

and BCG vaccine). By comparison, only 84 percent and 69 percent of hospitals and health<br />

posts, respectively, have these basic vaccines.<br />
