Availability of FP Commodities
Tables 3.13.1 and 3.13.2 present the availability of FP commodities for facilities that
offer each modern method of family planning, according to the type of facility and managing
authority and region.
Eight in ten facilities (80 percent) offering FP services had all of the temporary
modern methods that they provided available on the day of the survey. However, the
availability was lower in the regions of Matam (48 percent), Diourbel (67 percent), and
Louga (62 percent).
Table 3.13.1 Availability of family planning commodities by facility type and managing authority
Among facilities that provide 1 the indicated modern family planning method, the percentages where the commodity was observed to be available on the day
Note: The combined oral contraceptive pills, injectable contraceptives, and the male condom measures presented in the table comprise the medicines
and commodities domain for assessing readiness to provide family planning services within the health facility assessment methodology proposed by
WHO and USAID (2012). Each commodity or method shown in this table was observed to be available in the service area or location where
commodities are stored and at least one of the observed commodities or methods was valid, i.e., within expiration date.
1
The facility reports that it stocks the method in the facility and makes it available to clients without clients having to go elsewhere to obtain it.
