The facility provides the following services for the prevention of HIV transmission from an infected pregnant woman to her child: HIV counseling and screening
test for pregnant women, screening test for children born to HIV-positive mothers, ARV prophylactic treatment for HIV-positive pregnant women, ART
prophylactic treatment for children born to mothers with HIV, counseling for HIV-positive pregnant women on newborn and breastfeeding infants, nutritional
counseling for HIV-positive pregnant women and their children, and FP counseling for HIV-positive pregnant women.
HIV screening testing for pregnant women is available in 99 percent of facilities
offering ANC services and any PMCTC service, while HIV screening tests for children born
to HIV-positive mothers is only available in 8 percent of facilities.
ARV prophylaxis for pregnant women and children born to HIV-positive mothers is
offered more often in health centers than in hospitals.
