Health Facilities Providing, Prescribing, or Counseling Clients on any FP Method<br />

Providers of family planning methods are expected to communicate some basic<br />

information to their clients, including use of the method, possible changes, potential side<br />

effects, and measures to be taken when problems arise that are related to the method.<br />

Tables 3.11.1 and 3.11.2 present, for facilities offering any family planning service,<br />

the percentages that provide, prescribe, or counsel clients on specific FP methods, according<br />

to the type of facility and managing authority and region.<br />

In virtually all facilities offering family planning services, combined oral<br />

contraceptive pills (97 percent), oral progestin-only pills (96 percent) and progestin-only<br />

injectables (97 percent) are by far the methods most often provided, prescribed, or<br />

recommended to patients. Tubal ligation services are available in one out of two facilities (53<br />
