The root, as the grammatically indivisible lexical abstraction, in the<br />

Qashqa-daryÁ Arabic dialect consists of two or three consonants, and<br />

rarely of one or four consonants:<br />

Ó cf ÓÁ "he came", md cf mad "he went away", lhg cf lihig "he arrived at<br />

a point", dstr cf dastær "consent".<br />

The Unity of root-consonant constitutes a base on which this or that<br />

grammatical form is built. Although, the number of root-consonants is not<br />

fixed, along with the abundance of three-consonant roots in the dialect,<br />

instances of their transformation into two-consonant roots are also found:<br />
