The pronominal suffixes in verbs reflect the object. They denote the<br />

person (1 st , 2 nd , 3 rd ), the gender (m. and f.) and the number (pl. only).<br />

The singular number is not marked.<br />

Demonstrative pronouns<br />

Demonstrative pronouns in the Qashqa-daryÁ Arabic Dialect are<br />

originated from the Arabic hÁËa<br />

hÁza//hÁd "this" (masc.) halÁn "these"<br />

hÁzi//hÁdi "this" (fem.) hazlÝn "those"<br />

Demonstrative pronouns distinguish the categories of number and<br />

gender. In the plural the category of gender is not expressed. Two parallel<br />

forms of hazlÝn/hamazlÝn, occur , the latter denoting the intensive form.<br />

hamazlÝn qatalæ! "THEY are who’ve killed"!<br />

Interrogative and Negative Pronouns:<br />

Interrogative pronouns in QAD are represented by min "who" and eâ//iâ<br />

"what". These pronouns have parallels in other Arabic Dialects also.<br />

min iÓa? "Who is coming?"; eâ saweyta? "What did you do?".<br />

The Negative pronoun is represented as a composite: negative particle -mÁ<br />

+pronominal suffix:<br />

mÁni Óo÷Ýn "I am not hungry"; mÁhum i úbÎt "They are not at<br />

home".<br />

The forms of mÁhad and mÁmin in the meaning of "nobody" are<br />

infrequent:<br />

mÁhad iÓa "Nobody has come"; mÁmin sayal "Nobody has asked".<br />

Sometimes mÁmin conveys the meaning of "nothing", "none":<br />

anÁ i úbÎt mÁmin ÷andi "I have nothing at home".<br />

Relative Pronoun<br />

li and ki are used as relative pronouns in QAD. The former is of the<br />

Arabic origin: li
