The pronominal suffixes in verbs reflect the object. They denote the
person (1 st , 2 nd , 3 rd ), the gender (m. and f.) and the number (pl. only).
The singular number is not marked.
Demonstrative pronouns
Demonstrative pronouns in the Qashqa-daryÁ Arabic Dialect are
originated from the Arabic hÁËa
hÁza//hÁd "this" (masc.) halÁn "these"
hÁzi//hÁdi "this" (fem.) hazlÝn "those"
Demonstrative pronouns distinguish the categories of number and
gender. In the plural the category of gender is not expressed. Two parallel
forms of hazlÝn/hamazlÝn, occur , the latter denoting the intensive form.
hamazlÝn qatalæ! "THEY are who’ve killed"!
Interrogative and Negative Pronouns:
Interrogative pronouns in QAD are represented by min "who" and eâ//iâ
"what". These pronouns have parallels in other Arabic Dialects also.
min iÓa? "Who is coming?"; eâ saweyta? "What did you do?".
The Negative pronoun is represented as a composite: negative particle -mÁ
+pronominal suffix:
mÁni Óo÷Ýn "I am not hungry"; mÁhum i úbÎt "They are not at
home".
The forms of mÁhad and mÁmin in the meaning of "nobody" are
infrequent:
mÁhad iÓa "Nobody has come"; mÁmin sayal "Nobody has asked".
Sometimes mÁmin conveys the meaning of "nothing", "none":
anÁ i úbÎt mÁmin ÷andi "I have nothing at home".
