Generell informasjon<br />

This introductory course in methodology has relevance for all theological disciplines. It introduces the students to methods and<br />

principles applied also by other scientific disciplines relevant to theology. The course emphasizes historical and linguistic methods<br />

usually applied in Biblical studies as well as the hermeneutical question of how to construct local theologies. Since doing theology<br />

necessarily involves translating and communicating it, theology is always in the making. The course will address the local and<br />

contextual horizons for doing theology.<br />

Studiekrav<br />

- a minimum of 80 % attendance in the methodology class<br />

- a methodological essay of approximately 2000 words<br />

Vurdering<br />

To gain credits for the course the student has to pass all the course works/¬assignments. The course is to be assessed with a pass /fail.<br />

Mål og innhold<br />

The students are expected to:<br />

- know the methods of Biblical Studies, Systematic Theology and empirical research, and how they may contribute to the work of<br />

theological communication<br />

- have knowledge of the impact of the contemporary context on theological reflection and its results<br />

- have knowledge of the main questions important to theological hermeneutics<br />
