Generell informasjon<br />

This course is a core course for the programme Master in Religious Education.<br />

Old Testament Theology is a conventional academic discipline. It builds upon exegesis of individual Old Testament books, as well as<br />

upon works in the field History of Ancient Israel. The aim of OT Theology is to give a coherent account of religious and theological<br />

views prevalent in ancient Israel, particularly as given in the OT canon.<br />

Studiepoengreduksjon<br />

This course overlaps a number of courses and therefore credits gained in this course will be reduced if students have passed one or<br />

more of the overlapping courses:<br />

- With KRL202 the course is reduced with 2 ECTS-credits<br />

- With BIB501 the course is reduced with 3 sp ECTS-credits<br />

- With GT502 the course is reduced with 5 sp ECTS-credits<br />

Studiekrav<br />

The student is to<br />

- hand in a weekly reading report for at least 75 percent of the weeks,<br />

- hand in a weekly reader's questions report for at least 75 percent of the weeks,<br />

- give an evaluation of the course and the teaching if the course is up for evaluation the semester in question.<br />

Vurdering<br />

To gain credits for the course the student has to pass all the course works / assignments, and then sit for a written examination (4<br />

hours). Finally, the grade of the course (A-F) will be given on the basis of the reports (weighing 1/3) and the examination (weighing 2/3).<br />

Mål og innhold<br />

By the end of the module, the student will be able to:<br />

- have an overview of different ways of writing an Old Testament Theology,<br />

- have a good knowledge about the theological meaning and significance of various names for the God of the Old Testament,<br />

- have knowledge about the current debate on god-language and the feminist critique of the patriarchal god-language,<br />

- have a good knowledge about the faith of ancient Israel as reflected in biblical literature; its various forms from the Patriarchal<br />

through the Hellenistic ages.<br />
