Generell informasjon
The aim of studying this epoch (ca. A.D. 100–500) is to gain a thorough knowledge of the period of the church when its
distinguishing marks like formulated creeds, liturgy, canonical scriptures, and the understanding of the church developed, and the
“classical” answers were given on what it means to live as a Christian (ethics and spirituality). The course emphasises the
internal developments of church-life (worship and spirituality), but also the interaction with society, culture and other religions during
development of the period. The purpose of this endeavour is partly to gain a thorough knowledge on the contextuality of the history of
the church and theology, and partly to gain a thorough knowledge of the general overview for other advanced master’s courses
