During the past three to four decades,the migration from non-Western countries has changed the religious landscapes of the West. Immigrant religious communities are, inturn, shaped by the existing churches and religious organizations in the host societies. As many migrants and their descendants havedemanded equal opportunities, fundamental arrangements between religion and state are challenged in Europe. The gendered natureof religion affects the different roles that women and men, migrants as well as natives, have in religious communities. Gender alsoaffects their religious faith and experiences. The relationship between migration, gender and religion will be discussed in light of studiesfrom Europe and the United States.StudiekravThe student willWrite a book report 1,200 - 2,000 words from a limited part of the course syllabus. The topic of the report is selected in cooperation withthe professor and is graded pass/failParticipate in the evaluation of the courseAvsluttende vurderingIn order to pass SAM5147 the student must fulfill all the requirements and pass a written exam (6 hrs).
