O Fado de Coimbra é uma expressão musical única no mundo. Tocado e cantado pelos estudantes da Universidade é, segundo a tradição, necessário tocar e cantar o Fado de Coimbra envergando a capa, que deve estar traçada. É um Fado cujos poemas evocam, invariavelmente, o amor e a saudade por uma mulher, pela cidade e pela Academia. Se o Fado é considerado a canção da alma portuguesa, o Fado de Coimbra é, seguramente, a música que marca o ritmo do coração da cidade dos estudantes. Este é limitado a norte pelo município da Mealhada, a leste por Penacova, Vila Nova de Poiares e Miranda do Corvo, a sul por Condeixa-a-Nova, a oeste por Montemor-o-Velho e a noroeste por Cantanhede. 151
A Coimbra deve-se Mondego, rio que separa as duas margens do município mas que por sua vez, se torna num dos maiores agregadores comunitários da história e evolução da cidade.
