The history of mills dates back to the time when
man tried to grind grain to feed himself, trying to
find machines that would reduce the painful task of
making flour. He crushed cereal, first between two
stones and then he used the pestle and the grail. The
mills are distinctive marks in the rural landscape and
show the popular wisdom and technique in the use
of natural resources. It is thanks to some millers that
the water mills of Mira are still operating, forming
part of a valuable socio-cultural heritage.
