Flamingos are one of the most emblematic species of
the region’s ecosystem, particularly in the locations
dominated by the traditional saltpans of Figueira da
Foz and which consequently provide a type of visual
spectacle, thus contributing to attracting more visitors
to the municipality. To find them you have to look hard
and observe quietly, as they take refuge in these areas
of Figueira’s saltpans after undertaking long migratory
journeys.
