Classified as Protected Landscape, Serra do Açor is a predominantly schistose mountainous area, with a diversified forest area with great expression in the region. From the top of its 1349 metres, the landscape that the mountain offers is of stunning beauty, with nature in its almost pure state. A mountain range named after a bird, which is home to some species of birds that choose the freedom of the great wild spaces. But it is because of the flora and plant formations that occur here that this mountain range is recognised as an important part of Portugal’s natural heritage. 353
