MURALS PAINTED AND COORDINATED:
*1983: A mural of a "school activity sandwich" in the old Greer High Cafeteria
with my former Greer High students and new ones from Hillcrest High
*1995: Four "Celebration of Education" murals located on the HHS first
floor: dedicated to former HHS Best of Show recipient, David Pyle.
*2003: three murals of scenes from my trip across the country done on my garage
walls: one mural of the Colorado Rocky Mountains with Cow #7, one of Utah's
Arches National Park and one of California's El Capitan
The majority of my students who have attempted an AP Art course have received
college credit. Several have attended Governor's School for the Arts, won state
and national poster contests, competed in regional and national Scholastic Art
Awards, and one of my students was honored in Kansas City, MO., as being a
Charles M. Robertson Scholarship Winner. (His scholarship totalled
$64,000.00.)
My parents are originally from Denmark, Europe. That makes me
first-generation American. I love my country. However, through my exposure
to my parents, their country, a day in a Danish school, students from other
states and several foreign exchange students over the years, I am aware that
many students in our state fall short in the areas of reading, math and doing
homework. I encourage you to monitor your child's progress in this class as well
as his/her others'.
In whatever free time I may have, you can find me playing with my cats, Chester,
FLEX and Scooter, my birds, Hector and Helena, singing harmony to light rock,
(I have sung in ten weddings.), taking and selling photos of nature, painting
murals, creating wrapping paper jewelry (sold at one time at the Columbia
Museum of Art and at Tempo Gallery), watching "Survivor", "Grey's Anatomy"
and "American Idol" (yep), visiting relatives and investigating new places in this
world. (My camera demands that I return to Utah!). I have sold jewelry, photos,
scarves and portraits through my business called "Megaches". (Check it out at
Megaches.com)
Please check out the rest of this site. I appreciate your time, and I hope to meet
you in person some day either at Open House or during class! Take care. E.K.
