(1) Criminal Plan.
Czechoslovakia was an obstacle to the German "Drang nach
Osten" (Drive to the East) and to the domination of Europe:
(a) Strategically.
The words of BISMARCK: "Who dominates Bohemia-dominates
Europe" might have led HITLER's plan of aggression.
Czechoslovakia was indeed of first strategical importance as a
natural barrier and bastion. against any military drive down to the
Danube Basin and hence through the Eastern Carpathians to the
East and along the Danube Valley to the Balkans.
