Evaluation and following optimizing of an existing automated stretching unit for<br />
plastic tubes for use in the construction of angioplasty catheters<br />
This bachelor thesis encompasses the evaluation and following optimizing of an<br />
automated stretching unit for plastic tubes for use in the construction of angioplasty<br />
catheters. The device was not in operation at the time that this bachelor thesis was<br />
proposed because the regulatory requirements had not yet been complied with.<br />
The outer diameter of a specified segment of the tube will be reduced by the stretching<br />
unit so that it is suitable for catheter production. The control of the newly developed<br />
system is achieved using a controller running its own specially developed software. Up<br />
to three tubes can be stretched in parallel by means of the automated stretching unit.<br />
The whole process, except for the cold stretching, is fully automatic with defined<br />
parameters.<br />
