Scheduled Monuments
3.5.2. There are three bowl barrows lying within the study area to the south
and southeast of the site at distances of 1.7km, 2.4km and 2.6km. In
addition to the bowl barrows, Leiston Abbey is located approximately
2.5km to the northwest of the site.
Listed Buildings
3.5.3. The nearest listed building to the proposed onshore connection and
substation is The Watch-House (Grade II listed) at Sizewell Gap,
located 0.9km west of the proposed substation site and lying in close
proximity to the route of the onshore cable. The next nearest listed
buildings are located within the settlement of Leiston. In the wider
study area, there are further listed buildings lying at a distance of 2km
or greater from the proposed development.
Conservation Areas
3.5.4. Leiston Conservation Area is located approximately 2.1km to the west
of the site.
3.5.5. Analysis of the ZTVs (Figures 06 and 07) and field assessment has
identified that the development would not be visible from any of the
Scheduled Monuments or Listed Buildings, or Leiston Conservation
Area. Construction works associated with the onshore connection on
Sizewell Beach would be visible from the Watch-House.
