Although it is called leakage induct<strong>an</strong>ce, it plays <strong>an</strong> import<strong>an</strong>t role in the machine<br />

perform<strong>an</strong>ce. The <strong>stator</strong> <strong>an</strong>d rotor currents are primarily a function <strong>of</strong> the leakage<br />

induct<strong>an</strong>ce <strong>of</strong> the machine <strong>an</strong>d some key perform<strong>an</strong>ce characteristics such as starting<br />

torque, breakdown torque <strong>an</strong>d inrush current are dependent on it. In addition, the<br />

electromagnetic time const<strong>an</strong>t almost only depends on the leakage induct<strong>an</strong>ce.
