The solenoids in the valve block assembly do<br />

not function to shift the venting valve or<br />

the power failure valve.<br />

Remove the inspection cover from the<br />

solenoid housing and examine the solenoids<br />

to see if, they operate to shift<br />

the venting valve, when the starting<br />

handle is moved to the ItStart It position.<br />

Also check to see that the power failure<br />

valve shifts whenthe electric motor is<br />

turned <strong>of</strong>f and on.<br />

(4) The venting valve or the power failure valve<br />

stuck.<br />

Operate the valves manually by moving<br />

their operating levers_ inside <strong>of</strong> the<br />

solenoid housing to insure that no friction<br />

exists Lnthe valves, and the valve<br />

springs function .correctly.<br />

(5) The starting sv.itch fails to close or make<br />

contact.<br />

Remove the cover <strong>of</strong> the starting switch<br />

and check to see if the contacts close<br />

when the starting handle is moved to<br />

theltStartlt Position.<br />

(6) The loading and unloading position limit<br />

switches fail to close or make contacts.<br />

Remove the covers <strong>of</strong> the switches which<br />

are not held open by the powder car and<br />

check to see that the switches are<br />

closed, and the contacts in good condition.<br />

(7) The wiring maybe ruptured or a short circuit<br />

may exist.<br />

Check the wiring for rupture or short<br />

circuit.<br />

(b) Failure <strong>of</strong> control pump circuit. - If pressure<br />

builds up to operate the hoist with the control<br />

selector lever positioned for a nServo Mechanical"<br />

controlled cycle, but considerable effort<br />

is required to operate the hoist and lower control<br />

lever, the control pumphas failed. The<br />

trouble may be caused by one <strong>of</strong> the following<br />

reasons:-
