274267-9 can also be removed. The removal <strong>of</strong> the small pipe<br />
plugs 196826-9 from the ends <strong>of</strong> the body 274268-1 will permit<br />
the removal <strong>of</strong> the ball checks 196701-9, the springs 274266-4<br />
and the spring retainers 229060-9. Removal <strong>of</strong> the acorn nuts<br />
206482-11 and loosening the lock nuts 274267-10 will permit<br />
the removal <strong>of</strong> the adjustable needle valves 274266-11.<br />
176. To reassemble the dashpot cylinder assembly (dr .<br />
no. 274265). - The parts are to be thoroughly cleaned in a<br />
non-acid cleaning fluid and are to be reassembled in reverse<br />
<strong>of</strong> the dismantling instructions. Whenassembling the piston<br />
rod 274266-13 through the oil seal 274338-4 and the packing<br />
274266-10, slip the oil seal leader 274349-3 over the thread<br />
end <strong>of</strong> the piston rod to prevent injury to the oil seal and<br />
packing. The oil seal leader may be found in the #1 spare<br />
parts box. The assembly is to be filled with oil and adjusted<br />
as explained.<br />
METHOD OF CHANGING EQUIPMENT FROM RIGHT HAND TO LEFT HAND<br />
177. The remaining paragraphs <strong>of</strong> this chapter are disassembly<br />
and assembly instructions which apply to alteration<br />
<strong>of</strong> a r a.ght hand power plant for purpose <strong>of</strong> converting it for<br />
left hand LnstaLl.a t Lon, Elements <strong>of</strong> the A-end, the B-end, the<br />
control linkage and the saf'e ty car -stop device require conversion<br />
as described. All· other parts are assembled the same<br />
for both right and left hand installations.<br />
Conversion from left hand to right hand is made in exactly the<br />
same manner as described except the parts are to be mounted<br />
in the R.H. locations and the R.B. levers are to be used.<br />
178. B-end chang e-ouer (rom" R. H. to L. H. requires the<br />
following changes (see assembly drawing <strong>of</strong> B-end, 274249).<br />
(a) The foot valve and its control linkage are to<br />
be assembled on the opposite side <strong>of</strong> the base<br />
and the hydraulic motor head.<br />
(b) The complete brake cylinder and brake band are<br />
to be assembled to the opposite side .<br />
(0) The ratchet dogs and springs are to be assembled<br />
to the opposite hand.<br />
(d) The cams in the B-end are to be turned over.<br />
(e) The check valve 206639-5 and the pipe plug<br />
200075-16 are to be assembled in the opposite<br />
side <strong>of</strong> the hydraulic motor head 274316-1.
