The brake cylinder is then to be secured to<br />

the mounting base in the left hand position.<br />

(j) The three ratchet dogs 274317-5 assembled to<br />

the brake drum 274320-1 are to be dismantled,<br />

by removing the slotted nuts 274339-7, and the<br />

pins 274322-2. The ratchet dogs are to be<br />

turned over and reassembled with the springs<br />

274317-7 hooked over the opposite pins. For<br />

convenience in changing the ratchet dogs the<br />

brake drum may be removed from the drive shaft<br />

and is to be replaced as soon as the change<br />

is made.<br />

(k) The brake band, lever and bracket assembly are<br />

to be reassembled to theL.R. mounting position,<br />

and are to be secured by the screws and<br />

dowels. The brake band stop pins are to be<br />

reassembled in their respective places and are<br />

to be secured by the slotted nuts.<br />

( Z) Before the hoisting drum can: be assembled it<br />

will be necessary to form hooks <strong>of</strong> heavy wire,<br />

which will hook into the spring retaining holes<br />

<strong>of</strong> the ratchet dogs and hook over the edge <strong>of</strong><br />

the brake drum. These 'hooks are to be made<br />

short enough to hold the' ratchet dogs clear<br />

<strong>of</strong> the ratchet when the hoist drum is being<br />

assembled. When the hoist dr-wmis far enough<br />

on the shaft to permit the ratchet dogs to ride<br />

on the ratchet, the wire hooks are to be removed<br />

and the hoist drum slid completely on<br />

the drive shaft.<br />

(m) When the cam housing is ready for assembly<br />

make sure that the spacer 274334-13 is assembled<br />

into the bearing 274337-11 and into the<br />

oil seal 274338-8 before sliding the cam housing<br />

over the drive shaft. Also make sure that<br />

the gasket 274329-4 is in place on the drive<br />

shaft. Secure the housing to the base with<br />

the dowels and screws provided. Reassemble<br />

the spacer 274335-6, gear 274328-6, keys<br />

200148-6, and the bearing lock, nuts and washers.<br />

(n) The brake cylinder piston is to be reassembled<br />

to the brake operating lever and the brake<br />

band end is to be reassembled through the<br />

block. The brake band is to be adjusted in<br />

accordance with the adjustment instructions.
