37.24 Άντζ’ακκις...ούτε… = Despite the fact that…not even…<br />

Another simple conjuction is ‘άντζ’ακκίς’ which simply means ‘despite the fact that’. It is used at the start of sentences.<br />

Άντζ’ακκις του ετάνηα ούτε ευκαριστώ εν μας είπεν.<br />

Despite the fact that I helped him he didn’t even say thank you.<br />

Άντζ’ακκις φταίει ουτε συγγνώμην εν λαλεί.<br />

Despite the fact that its his fault he won’t even say sorry.<br />

Άντζ’ακκις του έωκα τόσα ριάλγια ούτε αττυμήθηκεν να μου τα δώκει πίσω.<br />

Despite the fact that I gave him so much money he didn’t even remember to return them.<br />

37.25 Άηκεν που = Not just that…even<br />

‘Άηκεν που’ means ‘not just that…even’.<br />

Άηκεν που του είπουν να μεν μολοήσει.<br />

Not just that, I even told him not to confess.<br />

Άηκεν που της είπασιν να μεν τον σπιτώσει.<br />

Not just that, I told her not to put him in her house.<br />

Άηκεν που το εβάλετε εις το αρμάριν τζ’αι πάλε εχάθηκεν.<br />

Not just that, you even put in the cupboard and it still got lost.<br />

37.26 Ούτε...ούτε καν/Ούτε να = Neither…not even<br />

‘Ούτε...ούτε’ means ‘neither…neither’ and is used with nouns. ‘Ούτε να...ούτε να’ means neither…nor and if used with verbs.<br />

Ούτε του Μιχάλην εσύντηχα ούτε της Έλενας.<br />

I spoke neither to Michael neither to Helen.<br />

Ούτε του επώλγησα τίποτε ούτε καν επέραεν που το κατάστημαν.<br />

I neither sold him anything, he didn’t even pass by the store.<br />

Ούτε να καπνίσεις ούτε να πκιείς.<br />

Neither spoke neither drink.<br />

Ούτε να κατεβαίννεις ούτε να ανεβαίννεις.<br />

Neither descend nor rise up.<br />

37.27 Μέμπα να/Μέλλιμον να/Άραγες να/Μήαρες να = Perhaps<br />

This conjuction is used at the start of the sentence and the Subjunctive.<br />

Μέμπα/μέλλιμον/άραγες/μήαρες να θκιακλίσω τα αντζ’ειά.<br />

Perhaps I should do the dishes.<br />

Μέμπα/μέλλιμον/άραγες/μήαρες να μασουρίσω λλίον το δωμάτιον μου.<br />

Perhaps I should tidy up my room.<br />

Μέμπα/μέλλιμον/άραγες/μήαρες να ποσπαστώ με το θκιάβαζμαν τωρά για να το κάμω πόψε;<br />

Perhaps I should finish up with studying now or should I do it tonight?<br />

37.28 Αφούσον/Μιάς τζ’αι = Since/but + verbal phrase<br />

The conjuction above has two functions. It means ‘since’ but involving verbs not time phrases. ‘Μιάς τζ’αι’ only means ‘but’!<br />

Αφούσον/Μιάς τζ’αι εμιάληνεν πρέπει να ριμανέψει<br />

Since he is an adult he must assume responsibility.<br />

Αφούσον είπουν ντου να πάει.<br />

But I told him to go.<br />

Αφούσον/Μιάς τζ’αι έν πελλός μεν του διάς σημμασίαν<br />

Since he is crazy/irresponsible do not pay any attention.<br />

37.29 Αλώπως = Quite possibly/It looks like<br />

This conjuction is very simple and it is always used at the start of a sentence.<br />

Αλώπως έν δάσκαλος<br />

Quite possible/it looks like he is a teacher.<br />
