42.17Α Εις τα Πέρα = Abroad<br />

It is both a directional and locational preposition but it takes no case because it refers to being outside.<br />

Ο Γιάννης ζ’εί εις τα πέρα.<br />

John lives abroad.<br />

Η Έλενα επήεν εις τα πέρα.<br />

Helen went abroad.<br />

42.17Β Πέραν = Over/more<br />

It is an allocative or a degree level prepositiona and it takes the Genitive.<br />

Έν πυρά πέραν του κανονικού.<br />

It is warmer/hotter than usual.<br />

Επκιώρωεν πέραν των εκατών λιρών<br />

He paid over/more than 100 pounds.<br />

42.18 Ισ’α= Straight<br />

It is a directional and takes no case.<br />

Παρπάτα ίσ’α.<br />

Walk straight.<br />

Πάαιννε ίσ’α.<br />

Go straight.<br />

42.19 Ολόισ’α = Straight ahead<br />

It is a directional and takes no case.<br />

Οδήγα ολόισ’α τζ’αι εννά το έβρεις.<br />

Drive straight ahead.<br />

Επήεν ολόισ’α.<br />

He went straight ahead.<br />

42.20 Δεξ’ά = Right<br />

It is both a directional and locational preposition and takes the GENITIVE in Both cases!<br />

Στρίψε δεξ’ά εις το γιεύτερον καντούνιν.<br />

Turn right at the second road.<br />

Έν δεξ’α της αστυνομίας η φυλατζ’ή.<br />

The prison is on the right side of the police building.<br />

42.21 Ζαρβά = Left<br />

It is both a directional and locational preposition and takes the GENITIVE in Both cases!<br />

Στρίψε ζαρβά εις το γιεύτερον καντούνιν.<br />

It is both a directional and locational preposition and takes the GENITIVE in Both cases!<br />

Επήεν πολλά μακρά.<br />

He went far.<br />

It’s quite far away for you to walk.<br />
