CYPRIOT GRAMMAR

Directional-locational preposition. No case. The verbs used need to imply that you are not changing your own location but the location of
an another object!
Κούντα το τζ’εί/τζ’είθε/τζ’είττε/τζ’είττε μέρου.
Push it towards that direction there.
Σίρ την τζ’εί/τζ’είθε/τζ’είττε/τζ’είττε μέρου.
Throw it towards that direction there.
42.8 Ποτζ’εί, Ποτζ’είθθε, Ποτζ’είττε = Over there
Directional-locational preposition. No case. Contrary to above this set of prepositions are used with verbs which imply a change of position
of your or the person who does the action.
Πήαιννε ποτζ’εί/ποτζ’είθθε/ποτζ’είττε
GO over there.
Βούρα ποτζ’εί/ποτζ’είθθε, ποτζ’είττε
Run over there.
42.9A Πάνω = Up/on top of/upstairs
As a directional preposition it takes no case. As a locational preposition it takes the Accusative.
Έλα πάνω.
Come upstairs.
Έππεεν πάνω της.
It fell on top of her.
42.9B Πας + article = On/unto
It’s a locational preposition and takes the Accusative.
Έδωκα πας την Μαρίαν.
I bumped unto Mary.
Έππεεν πας την καρκόλαν.
I fell on the bed.
Έναι πας την τάβλαν.
It’s on the table.
Like it has contracted forms.
Πας τον -> πάστον
Πας την -> πάστην
Πας το -> πάστο
Πας τους -> πάστους
Πας τες -> πάστες
42.9Γ Που πάνω που = On top of
It is a locational preposition which takes the Accusative.
Έβαλα το που πάνω που τον αρμάριν
I put it on top of the closet.
Το κουρτινόξυλον έν που πάνω που το παραθύριν
The curtain railing is on top of the window.
42.10 Δαπάνω = Up here/Upstairs
It is a locational preposition which takes the Accusative.
Το πάνιον έν δαπάνω.
The bathroom is here upstairs.
Έλα δαπάνω.
Come up here.
Το κλειίν εν δαπάνω που έν η πόρτα.
The key is up here where the door is.
