B-B Hole is a gated cave in the Harrison Crawford State Forest. Special permission has been arranged for access during convention week only. Check with the caving kiosk for access rules and details. B-B Hole was discovered in the mid 1950s by Wyandotte Cave personnel who were searching for another piece of the Wyandotte Ridge puzzle. By Aaron Atz and closing over the years until 1998 when members of the Wyandotte Ridge Exploration Group got permission to install a large culvert and stabilize the entrance to this fine cave. The entrance is gated and from there is a 20-foot sloping rappel into the side of a medium-sized room. This drop could be rigged with a cable ladder but full vertical gear is advised. A hole in the floor on the other side of the room leads to a short climb down to the stream passage. The stream passage is almost all walking in mostly clean-washed passage for approximately 1,500 feet to where a major collapse terminated access to the upstream passage. One may choose to climb upward through breakdown to the Fools Room, a nice-sized mudfloored room formed by the collapse below. There is a very muddy blowing crawlway lead at the northern end of the room. The water leaves B-B Hole in low breakdown just downstream of the entrance room climbdown and quickly reappears in Breathing Hole Cave. No physical connection between the caves has
een made but a voice connection should be possible. Pushing the Talus Passage upstream in Breathing Hole could lead to a new route around and upstream of the upstream breakdown collapse in B-B Hole. Furthermore, there is a massive swallowhole just south of I-64 at around 680 feet in elevation that probably contributes much water to the B-B Hole-Breathing Hole system and it should be dye-traced to support or disprove this theory.
