degree angle. At the bottom of the talus pile
there are two 10-foot pits. The left pit leads a
short distance to some nice formations. The
right goes to more short passages, the longest
of which leads to an old dig.
This cave is located in the Harrison
Crawford State Forest. The entrance is a
small sinkhole on a wooded hillside above a side
ravine to Potato Run. The entrance is steeply
sloping to a 3-foot-high by 2-foot-wide, downsloping
canyon. In 20 feet there is a small dome.
The passage continues as a body-size rock tube.
In two body lengths three 90 degree bends are
encountered. The last bend is a vertical hole
with a 5-foot climb-down to a ledge. A steam
passage is reached by climbing down another
12 feet. Up steam the passage goes 50 feet to a
second stream which quickly become too low
to follow. Down steam, the cave has a couple

of nice climb-downs going down to 162 feet
below the entrance. A cobble floor occurs at
this level along with a lot of mud.
The cave is situated in a small ravine off a
valley east of Indian Creek. It is developed in
the upper limestone units of the Blue River
Group. Several chert beds, possibly the Lost
River Chert, outcrop in the wall of the cave a
few feet below the floor of the big room. The
cave is formed at the top of a collapse, which
could have collapsed into a lower passage.
Normal caving gear plus a 30-foot hand line
is needed to explore the cave. Care should be
taken to avoid muddying the formation areas
