the cave. The entrance is located on a bluff face
and can be a little difficult to find. There is a
very beautiful view of Blue River from the cave
entrance.

pit. Turkey vultures have been known to enter
the cave and become trapped and die due to
its reverse funnel shaped entrance. The second
pit is a nice 31-foot drop into a medium-size
dome pit with a large flowstone mass at the far
end. The drain is too small to follow but there
should be more cave-bearing limestone below
the known depth of Gary Pit.
Gary Pit was found by Gary Schotter in the
late 1960s. Gary is the father of local caver Chris
Schotter, and also the son of the late caver Leo
Schotter. Gary Pit was mapped by David Black
in 1980.
