Petition in terms <strong>of</strong> last monthly meeting was now made out by the Committee<br />

and would be presented to the Grand Lodge <strong>of</strong> Scotland without delay. The<br />

Lodge express’d their satisfaction to see that the Office Bearers had not been<br />

remiss in their duty and requests that the Right Worshipful Brother Black as<br />

well as the other <strong>of</strong>fice Bearers would use their utmost endeavours with the<br />

Grand Lodge to compel the Caledonians to give up the fourth Friday and adopt<br />

another night for their meeting, for the honour and dignity <strong>of</strong> this Lodge Roman<br />

Eagle.<br />

The Lodge being regularly constituted agreeable to the rules <strong>of</strong> the craft, Right<br />

Worshipful Brother Black informed the Brethren that in obedience to their<br />

instructions he had Petitioned and attested to the different Meetings <strong>of</strong> the Grand<br />

Lodge against Dr. John Mitchell <strong>of</strong> the Caledonians for his usurpation <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Fourth Friday, and he was happy that his Petition was Sustained and the fourth<br />

Friday confirmed as the Night <strong>of</strong> Meeting <strong>of</strong> the Roman Eagle
