Lodge, and are further highly injurious to the Regular Lodge <strong>of</strong> Mary’s Chapel<br />

<strong>of</strong> which the Complainers are the only legal <strong>of</strong>fice bearers holding <strong>of</strong>, and<br />

acknowledged by the Grand Lodge. Therefore and for other reasons to be<br />

proposed at discussing the complainers beseeched our said Lords for Letters <strong>of</strong><br />

Suspension and Interdict against the said John Brown, Samuel Cunningham,<br />

John Weir and John Murray and all other <strong>of</strong>fice Bearers <strong>of</strong> their pretended<br />

Lodge and others their adherents from holding any masonic meetings whatever<br />

within Scotland so long as they are expelled from Masonic priviledges and do<br />

not adhere to and hold <strong>of</strong> the Grand Lodge. Nevertheless the complainers have<br />

instantly found sufficient caution acted in the Books <strong>of</strong> our council and session<br />

for fulfilling and obtempering whatever judgement shall be given by our said<br />

Lords <strong>of</strong> Council and Session against them. In case any such be upon discussing<br />

the reasons here<strong>of</strong> and also for payment <strong>of</strong> whatever sum our said Lords shall<br />

please modify in case <strong>of</strong> wrongous Suspending. Our Will is therefore and we<br />

charge ye lawfully summon, warn and charge the said John Brown, Samuel<br />

Cunningham, John Weir and John Murray personally or at their respective<br />

dwelling places To compear before the Lords <strong>of</strong> our Council and Session At<br />

Edinburgh or where it shall happen them to be for the time the Twenty fourth<br />

day <strong>of</strong> February next in the hour <strong>of</strong> cause with continuation <strong>of</strong> days to answer at<br />

the instance <strong>of</strong> the said complainers in the forsaid matter and to hear and see the<br />

same haill effect and execution there<strong>of</strong> simpliciter suspended upon the said<br />

complainers for the reasons and causes forsaid.<br />

[Illegible] We and the said Lords have expressed the same haill effect<br />

and execution there<strong>of</strong> with all that has followed or may follow thereupon for the<br />

reasons and causes forsaid in the meantime while the Third day <strong>of</strong> March next<br />

that the verity may be known Because Alexander Laurie Bookseller in<br />

Edinburgh has become Cautioner for the Complainers as ye will answer to us<br />

thereupon. The which to [Illegible] ommitt to you our full power by these our<br />

Letters delivering them by you duly assented and indorsed again to the Bearer<br />

Given under our Signet At Edinburgh the Eighth day <strong>of</strong> November In the Forty<br />

ninth year <strong>of</strong> our Reign 1808.
