King is sacrificing and doing homage, and Horus<br />

is pouring out life and power over the King. <strong>The</strong><br />

fact that we find Sut here as one <strong>of</strong> the great Gods,<br />

is a pro<strong>of</strong> that he was considered and looked upon<br />

at the earliest period <strong>of</strong> their mythology as at least<br />

a brother to Horus, and that now Horus was<br />

primary. <strong>The</strong> myth had shifted, or changed<br />

places,<br />

the domain <strong>of</strong> Paradise from the South to<br />

the North, and the great fight between Horus and<br />

Sut had not yet come into being. <strong>The</strong>re can be no<br />

doubt that the primary part <strong>of</strong> the Mythos was first<br />

evolved at the Lakes at the head <strong>of</strong> the Nile when<br />

the Southern Pole Star was most predominant.<br />

<strong>The</strong> different names <strong>of</strong> Set taken by Kings which<br />

we find on the oldest monuments, some <strong>of</strong> which<br />

have been obliterated and Horus and Osiris sub-<br />

stituted, prove this, as well as the Pyramids and<br />

the Ritual. On later monuments we find that the<br />

great contest had been worked out in their myth-<br />

ology, and his name is then found Apap (the<br />

Great Giant, the Great Evil Serpent). In the<br />

Book <strong>of</strong> the Ritual he is also called Baba— the<br />

Beast (ch. xc. 17, 66, 67) — and the struggle <strong>of</strong><br />

Horus and Sut is mentioned in the Ritual (ch. viii.<br />

17, 9, 25), "<strong>The</strong> day <strong>of</strong> battle between Horus<br />

and Sut." Thus these old forefathers <strong>of</strong> ours had<br />

first worked out their Paradise in the Southern<br />

Hemisphere, and then as they came North, and a<br />

general amalgamation <strong>of</strong> the attributes took place,
