STUDY<br />

A Lecture delivered before the Essex Masters' Lodge, No. 3256, at<br />

the Great Eastern Hotel, London, E.C., on the isl April, 1912.<br />

For the last twenty years it has been one <strong>of</strong><br />

my objects in life to give Brothers information<br />

and to assist in advancing <strong>Freemasonry</strong> to that<br />

position it occupied<br />

at least three hundred thousand<br />

years ago—and towards which we are now fast<br />

approaching. It was difficult for me to choose<br />

which particular subject would be most interesting<br />

to you, and<br />

letter saying<br />

I took my key from your WLM.'s<br />

that<br />

"<br />

you did not initiate," and<br />

therefore presumed you were students <strong>of</strong> Free-<br />

masonry.<br />

Recent history has been so ably debated and<br />

written upon by many other students <strong>of</strong> <strong>Freemasonry</strong><br />

that they have practically exhausted the<br />

subject. At this stage it is as if the students<br />

stood on the edge <strong>of</strong> the sea— let us say at Dover :<br />

some would stand wondering what was on the<br />
