long will the diameter be thought <strong>of</strong> greater<br />

primary importance than the circumference <strong>of</strong> a<br />

circle ; and when we come to a sphere in motion,<br />

the axis <strong>of</strong> its dynamical labour shall hold a vastly<br />

superior importance, especially when the earth's<br />

equator<br />

is not a true circle. Thus we see that<br />

this symbol has a great claim upon our attention,<br />

and we have to return to the Egyptians <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Stellar Cult for its origin.<br />

<strong>The</strong> origin <strong>of</strong> the Blazing Star was the Egyptian<br />

Sothos," and is shown in Zootype form as<br />

Anubis, who guided the souls through<br />

the Under-<br />

world, and its allusion as the Star which guided<br />

the Wise Men is a recent version <strong>of</strong> the old (see<br />

Ritual). In another form, as " <strong>The</strong> Bright Morning<br />

Star "— the Star with eight rays — it represents<br />

Horus <strong>of</strong> the resurrection. It was typified by<br />

Orion, the eightfold one, the highest <strong>of</strong> the seven,<br />

with the essence <strong>of</strong> these to make One—<strong>The</strong> One,<br />

therefore eight. In Revelation the Son <strong>of</strong> God<br />

promises to give the Morning<br />

Star to him that<br />

overcometh ; "as I also have received <strong>of</strong> my<br />

Father ; and I will give Him the Morning Star "<br />

(Rev. ii. 28). <strong>The</strong> Morning Star was equally<br />

<strong>of</strong> the<br />

identified with Horus ; "I know the power<br />

East ; Horus <strong>of</strong> the Solar Mount ; the Calf in<br />

the presence <strong>of</strong> God ; and the Star <strong>of</strong> Dawn "<br />

(Ritual, Ch. cix.). Henceforth the Morning Star
