Four corners, " according to the measure <strong>of</strong> a<br />

man" (Rev. xxi. 17), and its origin was derived<br />

from the human figure. <strong>The</strong> pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> this was<br />

found in a Prehistoric Grave at Nagada, in Egypt.<br />

On one <strong>of</strong> the seal Cylinders we have depicted the<br />

primitive form, which was two human figures<br />

crossed. <strong>The</strong>se figures are depicted as in<br />

Fig. 59. <strong>The</strong> four limbs, which eventually<br />

became the four feet, or four legs, were at first<br />

the two arms and two legs <strong>of</strong> the human figure.<br />

This is the divine man whose image was extended<br />

crosswise on the universe as a type <strong>of</strong> creation,<br />

and who was Atum in the character <strong>of</strong> Iu, the Son,<br />

in the early Solar Cult. From these two figures<br />

other two figures were blended, representing there-<br />

from the Four Quarters <strong>of</strong> Heaven. As pro<strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>of</strong> this there is still to be seen a stone at Meigle,<br />

in Perthshire, with these four figures forming a<br />

Swastika, a photograph <strong>of</strong> which is given in " Signs<br />

and Symbols <strong>of</strong> Primordial Man." Each quarter<br />

was given, or assigned, to one <strong>of</strong> the four Brothers<br />

<strong>of</strong> Horus, who were the four attributes represent-
