1 8° Lodge is another that is nearly perfect, and<br />

was part <strong>of</strong>, or an attachment to, the first Temple<br />

or Lodge, their Temples consisting <strong>of</strong> three<br />

different rooms, or buildings, attached to one<br />

another and connected by doors and passages.<br />

<strong>The</strong> three cubes, each one surmounting the other,<br />

formed one central pedestal, on top <strong>of</strong> which rested<br />

a circle <strong>of</strong> gold and a triangle— at the corners <strong>of</strong><br />

this triangle were the names, in symbols,<br />

<strong>of</strong> the<br />

three names on the treble cube— namely, Horus,<br />

Set, and Shu, the first and Primary Trinity, and<br />

the three Grand Originals. Horus was typified<br />

and portrayed as the God <strong>of</strong> the North, Set as<br />

God <strong>of</strong> the South, and Shu as God <strong>of</strong> the Equinox.<br />

<strong>The</strong> triangle was sacred on account <strong>of</strong> its repre-<br />

senting Heaven. <strong>The</strong> Primary Triangle originally<br />

represented Set, but when Horus took the place and<br />

attributes <strong>of</strong> Set, he became God <strong>of</strong> the Celestial<br />

North. <strong>The</strong>ir two symbols<br />

were afterwards blended<br />

as Fig. 23. This form was sometimes doubled, as<br />

Fig. 20, and was then the most sacred sign amongst<br />

<strong>The</strong> Land <strong>of</strong> the Spirits," and we<br />

find it portrayed as such all over the<br />

world, where the old Brothers had lived. This<br />

was, in Primary form, surrounded by four serpents<br />

or Uraei, as guardians <strong>of</strong> the same (Fig. 21) ;<br />

later it was three Triangles, doubled as above,
