<strong>of</strong> which I 'have mentioned. <strong>The</strong> old ruins<br />

at Zimbabwe in Africa form a most excellent<br />

example<br />

<strong>of</strong> the remains <strong>of</strong> the old Stellar Cult<br />

builders, proving most conclusively the great<br />

knowledge <strong>of</strong> Geometry, Astronomy, and Mathematics<br />

which the Master builders possessed. <strong>The</strong><br />

Iconographic figures found there prove, too, how<br />

far the Speculative had advanced in his evolution<br />

<strong>of</strong> " the doctrines <strong>of</strong> Final things."<br />

I am much indebted to the Grand Council <strong>of</strong><br />

the Operatives for forwarding me their diagram<br />

<strong>of</strong> the " Five Great Circles," showing the formation<br />

<strong>of</strong> a " curved -sided pentagon," which we<br />

Speculative Masons have lost (Figs. 124-128).<br />

I reproduce here the diagrams. For the in-<br />

formation <strong>of</strong> my Brothers I give the Egyptian<br />

explanation, and not the Operative interpretation.<br />

<strong>The</strong> curved pentagon here on the centre has the<br />

same explanation and meaning as the one made<br />

by the two triangles, as represented in the centre<br />

<strong>of</strong> the five-pointed star — (straight-sided) the subdivision<br />

<strong>of</strong> Heaven or Celestial World " Sb aau "<br />

(see p. 270).<br />

<strong>The</strong> Five Great Circles represent<br />

the Five Great<br />

Spirits, or Attributes, or Guardians, <strong>of</strong> the same.<br />

In the Mexican we <strong>of</strong>ten see these represented<br />

by five Houses or five glyphs ; this is the origin<br />

<strong>of</strong> our five points <strong>of</strong> fellowship, as we demonstrate
