it will affect the Brotherhood and the nations now<br />

taking part in it. Both questions<br />

I will answer<br />

for my Brothers. <strong>The</strong>re cannot be the least doubt<br />

that both the English and French Brethren were<br />

anxious for universal peace. <strong>The</strong> French Brothers<br />

more especially were anxious to be acknowledged<br />

as being part <strong>of</strong> the universal Brotherhood, and to<br />

be in "Entente Cordiale " with the Grand Lodge<br />

<strong>of</strong> England, and we all rejoiced that they, having<br />

acknowledged the Great Architect <strong>of</strong> the Universe,<br />

were admitted into our Grand Lodge as such.<br />

We know that at the meeting in London <strong>of</strong><br />

the English, French, and German Grand Representatives,<br />

all pr<strong>of</strong>essed the same universal sentiments<br />

<strong>of</strong> peace and good-will. Although the German<br />

Brethren were eulogistic in their sentiments for<br />

peace, and pr<strong>of</strong>essed a wish for closer ties, their<br />

after actions proved that in their hearts this was<br />

not so ; they were false to the true tenets <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Brotherhood, to the Great Architect <strong>of</strong> the Universe,<br />

and to the doctrines which they so pr<strong>of</strong>essed to<br />

admire. That this was so is shown by the follow-<br />
