Louise Ingham has taught <strong>English</strong> to Speakers of Other <strong>Language</strong>s s<strong>in</strong>ce 2004 <strong>in</strong><br />

the further education sector <strong>in</strong> the UK. <strong>Course</strong>s have <strong>in</strong>cluded all levels of Cambridge<br />

Skills for Life <strong>and</strong> Cambridge ma<strong>in</strong> suite exams. Additionally, she has designed <strong>and</strong><br />

delivered ESOL courses without traditional exams to meet specific local needs. Her<br />

<strong>in</strong>terest <strong>in</strong> blended learn<strong>in</strong>g came about through participation <strong>in</strong> a TESOL MA at the<br />

University of Manchester. She was us<strong>in</strong>g exist<strong>in</strong>g free web-based resources <strong>in</strong> her<br />

teach<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> had some experience of Moodle. However, the Manchester TESOL MA<br />

<strong>in</strong>volved experiential learn<strong>in</strong>g us<strong>in</strong>g Blackboard, wiki <strong>and</strong> Moodle, <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>troduced her<br />

to ELT literature <strong>and</strong> the possibilities of educational technologies from the perspective<br />

of learners <strong>and</strong> teachers. The ‘<strong>Blended</strong> <strong>Learn<strong>in</strong>g</strong> <strong>Course</strong> <strong>Design</strong>’ <strong>and</strong> ‘Teach<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong><br />

<strong>Learn<strong>in</strong>g</strong> Onl<strong>in</strong>e’ modules were particularly <strong>in</strong>fluential.<br />

Andy Keedwell has been work<strong>in</strong>g as an <strong>English</strong> language teacher, tra<strong>in</strong>er, tra<strong>in</strong>ertra<strong>in</strong>er<br />

<strong>and</strong> manager s<strong>in</strong>ce 1986, <strong>and</strong> has worked <strong>in</strong> a variety of locations <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g<br />

East Africa, the South Caucasus, the Middle East <strong>and</strong> South East Asia. He has been<br />

<strong>in</strong>volved specifically with blended <strong>and</strong> onl<strong>in</strong>e learn<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> Sudan, Armenia <strong>and</strong><br />

Ethiopia. He is currently Head of Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g at the British Council <strong>in</strong> Afghanistan <strong>and</strong><br />

is particularly <strong>in</strong>terested <strong>in</strong> facilitat<strong>in</strong>g skills shar<strong>in</strong>g amongst teachers, enabl<strong>in</strong>g<br />

teachers to tra<strong>in</strong> others <strong>and</strong> <strong>English</strong> for the world of work.<br />

Nergiz Kern is a teacher with a Diploma <strong>in</strong> <strong>English</strong> <strong>Language</strong> Teach<strong>in</strong>g to Adults.<br />

She has taught academic, general, bus<strong>in</strong>ess <strong>and</strong> technical <strong>English</strong> <strong>in</strong> different<br />

countries for 13 years. Nergiz also has considerable experience <strong>in</strong> teach<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong><br />

teacher education <strong>in</strong> onl<strong>in</strong>e 3D virtual worlds. Currently, she is <strong>in</strong> the f<strong>in</strong>al stages<br />

of an MA <strong>in</strong> Educational Technology <strong>and</strong> TESOL at the University of Manchester<br />

<strong>and</strong> teaches academic <strong>English</strong> <strong>in</strong> Turkey <strong>and</strong> the UK. Her <strong>in</strong>terests are <strong>in</strong>tegrat<strong>in</strong>g<br />

technology mean<strong>in</strong>gfully <strong>in</strong> language <strong>and</strong> teacher education, develop<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong><br />

teach<strong>in</strong>g <strong>English</strong> for specific purposes (ESP) courses, creat<strong>in</strong>g multimedia materials,<br />

blended learn<strong>in</strong>g, teacher education, <strong>and</strong> learner <strong>and</strong> teacher autonomy.<br />

Astrid Krake has been <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> aspects of <strong>English</strong> <strong>Language</strong> Teach<strong>in</strong>g for 20<br />

years. After work<strong>in</strong>g as an editor for a publish<strong>in</strong>g company she was the Head of<br />

<strong>English</strong> at the Munich Volkshochschule (2002 –11). In 2004 she also became Head<br />

of <strong>Language</strong>s at the same <strong>in</strong>stitution. She recently accepted the position of Head<br />

of the <strong>Language</strong> Centre at the University of Bamberg/Germany. In addition to her<br />

contracted positions Astrid has been a teacher of <strong>English</strong> as a Foreign <strong>Language</strong><br />

at a number of adult education <strong>in</strong>stitutions. She is <strong>in</strong>terested <strong>in</strong> f<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>g opportunities<br />

to enhance the language-learn<strong>in</strong>g experience by means of technology.<br />

Keith O’Hare has a CELTA <strong>and</strong> Tr<strong>in</strong>ity TESOL diploma <strong>and</strong> has been work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the<br />

world of ELT as tra<strong>in</strong>er <strong>and</strong> consultant for over 15 years. He presently works <strong>in</strong> the<br />

British Council <strong>in</strong> Ch<strong>in</strong>a as head of <strong>English</strong> Teacher Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g programmes <strong>and</strong> is<br />

responsible for sett<strong>in</strong>g up partnerships with prov<strong>in</strong>cial governments with a view<br />

to design<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> deliver<strong>in</strong>g teacher tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g projects <strong>in</strong> Ch<strong>in</strong>a. He is one of the<br />

leaders on the quality control of the Communicative Assessment project.<br />
