Environmental Description: This mapping class includes stands of Phyllostachys aurea
(golden bamboo) which have either been planted or naturalized. These stands occur on disturbed
lands, often near creeks and other mesic areas.
Vegetation Description: In Colonial National Historical Park, Golden Bamboo Shrubland is a
dense monoculture of the exotic Phyllostachys aurea (golden bamboo), 10-20 m tall, with no
other developed vegetation strata.
