Now that you know what the grounds for divorce are we can proceed to
study the consequences of divorce. In this (very short) study unit we shall
look at some of the general consequences of divorce.

CONTENT OF THIS STUDY UNIT
1 INTRODUCTION
In the first paragraph on page 127 of the prescribed textbook you will read
that the consequences of a divorce, like the grounds for divorce, are
governed by the Divorce Act 70 of 1979.
2 SETTLEMENT AGREEMENTS
On pages 127±128 of the prescribed textbook settlement agreements and
the incorporation thereof in divorce orders are discussed. You only need to
read this discussion.
