In this study unit we discuss the maintenance of a spouse after divorce. In
the previous study unit, which dealt with redistribution of assets, it was
explained that there is an interrelationship between redistribution of assets
and maintenance. It is therefore very important that you should know
about and understand the redistribution of assets before proceeding to
study the present study unit. In this study unit we now look at
maintenance orders in terms of section 7(2) of the Divorce Act 70 of 1979,
and the rescission, suspension or variation and termination of maintenance
orders.
